...2010 Western Kansas Swim Club 2nd Runner-ups!
Welcome to another year of the Guymon Gator's Swim Team! All children up to the age of 18 are
welcome. No experience is necessary and there is no minimum age, but children should be able to get across the pool one lap
(any way). Coaches give excellent lessons during practice and children become confident swimmers, get fit and learn
endurance and commitment. Swim Team is a FUN and unforgettable experience while developing a life-long skill.
GYSC is a member of the Western Kansas Swim Club, Missouri Valley Swim Association, and USA Swimming.
We are a summer season team, but do have some swimmers that compete year round.
The Guymon Gators Swim Club is made up of swimmers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities from
Guymon, Oklahoma and Elkhart, Kansas. The Guymon Gators Swim Club is a member of the Western Kansas Swim Club which is comprised
of 13 swim teams from Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. As a Gator, you will travel to swim meets in Liberal, Ulysses, Spearman,
Dodge City and Garden City, while also having a "home" meet in Elkhart, KS this year. You will get the opportunity to not
only get to know swimmers from your own town, but those from the "other" town also as there will be a good chance you will
be swimming a relay with them.
Throughout the season all swimmers will have the opportunity to qualify for Championships. It
doesn't have to stop there, though. After Championships are DII's and DI's and if you can qualify - Central Zones. As a
swimmer at each regular swim meet, you may have the opportunity to swim up to 5 individual events and possibly up to 2 relays.
The swim team practices Monday - Friday and there are both morning and evening practice sessions.
We encourage you to speak to your coach on which sessions you should attend. Swim meets are on Saturdays. Besides Guymon
Gator's fees, you will be required to register and pay a small fee with USA swimming. As for equipment, each swimmer will
need a towel, goggles, practice swim suit, possibly a swim cap and dedicated parents to ensure that their swimmer makes it
to practices and meets. Team suits will be provided for swim meets. Each new swimmer will also receive a Gator team shirt
that can be worn at the swim meets.
A Message from Coach Erica:
"I want to start off by saying I am thrilled and so excited to be this year's Gators swim coach. I have been a competitive
swimmer since I was 6 and have been coaching throughout those years. I will be applying my skills and techniques that I have
learned over my swimming career and apply it to this team's swimmers, so that they can strive for greatness and achieve it.
I am very determined for the swimmers to excel this year and really make dramatic drops in time and be a better and stronger
swimmer in the water."
